THE cast and audience of a tiny village pantomime joined forces to raise more than £500 for the victims of the Haiti earthquake.
The entire proceeds of the Saturday night performance of Jack and the Beanstalk by Tholthorpe Follies was donated to the emergency appeal.
The money was raised through tickets, programme sales and a donation bucket.
“We’ve all been affected by the traumatic images from Haiti and we felt we wanted to do something to help,” said writer and director Graeme Thompson.
“We are a small production and can only fit an audience of 60 into each performance. So to raise more than £525 from a single show was overwhelming and big thanks go to the cast, crew and audience.”
Jack and the Beanstalk is playing at the village hall at Tholthorpe, near Easingwold, until January 23 – tickets for performances on January 21 and 22 are still available. Contact 01347-838429 for details.
