YOUNG drivers are to be urged to take more care on the roads, and of their cars, at a community safety event.
The Drive to Survive event will offer advice on modifications, such as tinted windows, and how to drive more sensibly in wintry conditions.
The event, which is being run by the Richmondshire Community Safety Partnership, will be held at Colburn Fire Station on Wednesday, between 7-9pm.
The fire service will demonstrate how they cut people out of cars, to highlight the potential dangers of driving, and there will also be a brake testing display.
Pat Wilson, Richmondshire Community Safety Partnership Manager, said: "We want young people to enjoy their cars but we want them to be aware of the hazards and basic safety needed to keep them road worthy.
"Hopefully the event will enable young drivers to find out important aspects of car safety in a relaxed and fun atmosphere and help keep our roads safe."
