POLICE searching for a man missing for almost a week have found a body in isolated woodland.
Ian Simpkin, 36, went missing from his home in Wath, near Ripon, North Yorkshire, on Sunday morning.
The body has not been formally identified but police believe it to be that of Mr Simpkin.
A week of searches by police officers, diving teams, mountain rescue and RAF search and rescue, as well as volunteers from the local area, were carried out in the village and the surrounding area.
Despite the search officially being called off yesterday morning, the body was found by two officers in an area of woodland some two miles from Mr Simpkin’s home yesterday afternoon.
It is not believed there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death but a post mortem examination will be carried out and an investigation will be conducted on behalf of the coroner.
Mr Simpkin’s family were unavailable for comment last night.
