A CATHEDRAL appeal has received a welcome boost from a Yorkshire-based photographer.
Jon Scurrah has produced a spectacular 2010 calendar of iconic Yorkshire scenes purely for the fund-raising initiative.
Ripon Cathedral launched its organ appeal in the summer. It is trying to raise £350,000 to refurbish its 131-year-old instrument.
Jon has produced a panoramic 2010 Yorkshire calendar with some of Yorkshire’s most stunning scenery, including a 360-degree image of the East elevation of the cathedral.
"All the images are taken in 360 degrees via a sequence on image," said Jon.
"The Ripon Cathedral picture is 30 different images stitched together to give this final image."
He added: "When I was growing up in and around Masham the cathedral was one of the places that you would pass and take for granted but I now appreciate the endless task it is to maintain such a beautiful building.
"It’s great for my work to help such a project at the cathedral as the fabric of these buildings should be protected for future generations."
The calendar itself is printed with vegetable-based inks and shrink wrapped with a corn starch-based wrapper that it fully biodegradable in a compost bin.
With proceeds going towards the appeal the 2010 Yorkshire calendar is available either at the cathedral office in Ripon or via Jon’s website at phrame.co.uk/product/rcdc for £7.99.
