RESIDENTS in a care home in the region are backing an appeal by baker Hovis to raise £100,000 for the Royal British Legion.
Hovis is to make a donation to the legion’s poppy appeal for every bag of its Hovis Seed Sensations which are sold.
Funds will be donated to the charity from products sold between now and November 15.
The scheme is being backed by residents of Lister House Royal British Legion poppy home, Ripon, in North Yorkshire.
Resident Margot Tomlinson said: "I'm backing Hovis's fundraising initiative as the Royal British Legion has been invaluable in providing support to people like me who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces."
Hovis chose to aid the poppy appeal due to its long standing support of the armed forces.
In 1941 the baker provided a Spitfire named Hominis Vis, or the strength of man, to aid the RAF’s efforts in the Second World War.
