A DRIVER had a lucky escape and suffered only minor injuries after a crash between his car and a fuel tanker.
The accident at 7am on the A684 Ainderby Road, at Warlaby crossroads, near Northallerton, saw a Peugeot 306 and the tanker collide on October 23.
The 19-year-old male car driver was taken to the Friarage Hospital with minor injuries and later discharged.
The tanker driver from Bagby, near Thirsk, was unhurt but the road was closed for around nine hours.
The fire brigade, police, ambulance, county highways and the Environment Agency all attended the scene.
The major delay was in transferring the fuel to another tanker and diversions were put in place.
