TWO sports youngsters are celebrating after winning their respective events at a cross country meeting.

Matthew Tew and Hannah Najafi, two year seven pupils from Bedale High School, won their events at the Hambleton and Richmondshire area cross country league event, at Wensleydale School, in Leyburn, last week.

A spokesman for the school’s PE department said: "Both pupils set a great pace throughout their races and won in convincing style and they are stepping up their training ready for the area schools championships, at the Allertonshire School, in Northallerton on November 17 and the area cross country trials in December."
