A CHARITY fashion show that aims to show cancer sufferers there is life after the disease received a boost when a special guest offered his private jet as an auction prize.
The Celebration of Life after Cancer charity held it’s biannual fashion show at Tall Trees hotel in Yarm, using former and current cancer patients as models.
The event was supported by Barkers of Northallerton, who provided clothes and accessories for the models to wear, including some of the new GIVe range by designer George Davies, who turned up to the event in a helicopter.
Mr Davies, who created the George range for ASDA and Per Una for Marks and Spencer, spontaneously offered the use of his private jet for a two day visit for two to Italy after revealing during an on-stage interview that he had recovered from a brain tumour seven years ago.
The offer raised an extra £4,000 for the charity.
Founder of the charity Mary Lee said: "I can’t believe it, what a lovely man. "Just him turning up for the show made all the difference. He told me it was really professional show and that’s what we’ve always aimed for because of the positive message that all the models can celebrate life after a cancer diagnosis."
