POLICE are appealing for information after a teenager was assaulted while he waited for a bus.
The 17-year-old was punched in the face in the incident, which happened at about 9.45am, in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, on Saturday.
He was waiting at the bus stop close to the Smart Allick’s clothes stop, in the High Street, when he was approached by a group of youths.
He was punched in the face and struck to the back of the head.
He managed to run away from his attackers and headed to the roundabout at the junction of the High Street and East Road.
A young couple in a silver car, believed to be a Peugeot 206 or 306, pulled over near the roundabout to offer the victim assistance.
They kindly gave him a lift back to his home town of Bedale.
The victim, who later received treatment to facial cuts at the Friarage Hospital, in Northallerton, believes the driver’s name was David.
Police are urging the young couple to come forward to help the investigation.
