A MOTORIST has called for reimbursement for extra mileage driven because of the closure of Northallerton Road in Brompton.
Graham Bellwood, who used the road which links the village to Northallerton and Darlington, said he had asked the construction-firm behind the closure for reimbursement.
Taylor Wimpey are building the multi-million pound housing development, Thurstan Park towards the end of Northallerton road, which has been closed since November.
Mr Bellwood said: "I estimate, for myself and my wife, that as a result of the road closure we travel an extra two miles every time we go to Northallerton or head south.
"In all I estimate this amounts to at least eight miles a day which over a 14 week period equates to 784 miles."
The road was due to reopen in January, but further delays to construction work have pushed this back until March.
In response to a similar concern, Taylor Wimpey said they made 'every effort' to minimise disruption to communities, a spokesperson said contractors were on schedule to complete the necessary works by March.
North Yorkshire County Council said they were encouraging the construction-firm to finish ahead of schedule.
