A HOUSING association has appointed its new director tasked with overseeing the building of 1,250 affordable homes across North Yorkshire over the next five years.

Joy Whinnerah is the new director of development and investment at Broadacres.

She has joined the organisation from another housing association Home Group, where she was head of delivery for the North East and North Yorkshire.

This is a new role created by Broadacres as part of its new strategy and vision to become the best rural housing association in the country.

Ms Whinnerah has worked in housing all her career, starting with Kexgill Student Accommodation before moving to Stockton Borough Council and then to North Star Housing Group.

Ms Whinnerah said: “I am delighted to have joined Broadacres at a very exciting time for the association. Over the next five years we are committed to building 1,250 new homes across North Yorkshire, as well as ensuring our existing properties remain fit for purpose and addressing issues such as affordable warmth."
