LOCAL people are being asked to have their say on a new strategy that gives them a voice on council policies.

Richmondshire District Council’s new consultation strategy will give a consistent approach to community engagement across all areas of the authority.

“We think it is important for everyone to have the opportunity to have their say on local issues that affect or interest them,” said council leader, Cllr Yvonne Peacock.

“All opinions are important to us in developing the policies that shape our district.

She added: “Working with our communities is one of the five key priorities we have identified in delivering this vision so community engagement is at the heart of everything that we plan to do."

“By 2019, we aim to ensure that consultation, engagement activity is a fundamental part of developing council policy, and that our communities feel informed and able to participate in shaping the services that the council will deliver in the future.”

Comments on the strategy must be with the council by July 14. To check it out visit richmondshire.gov.uk
