A CHILDREN’S party has raised more than £200 for a charity that supports vulnerable adults and young people in Hambleton and Richmondshire.

New business RKN Events, based in Northallerton, held its first children’s party for five-year-old Nola Wallace at Northdale Horticulture, also based in the town.

Rowena Wallace from RKN Events, said the Jungle Book-themed party was a great success, raising £225 for Northdale Horticulture.

She said: “All the children dressed up in animal costumes and a good time was had by all.”

Northdale supports about 60 physical and learning disabled individuals to develop a wide arrange of vocational skills in realistic workplace environments, currently offering work in woodwork, garden nursery, arts and crafts and contract gardening.

Each department generates around a third of the charity’s income via the goods and services created within each department.

For some individuals Northdale provides a range of meaningful activities which directly replace conventional work, and for others the charity offers the opportunity to develop workplace skills which are directly transferable to volunteer or paid work opportunities in the wider community.

Northdale has a gift shop and garden nursery and is open Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm September to April and seven days a week throughout the spring and summer.
