A HISTORIC country house in Ryedale is offering food enthusiasts the chance to sample the work of its head chef in a one-off pop-up restaurant event.
The Orangery at Settrington, near Malton, is a private house owned by Kenelm and Karen Storey and used mainly for functions and weddings, but diners can enjoy fine food in a luxury setting on Saturday, March 7.
Mrs Storey said: “The Orangery at Settrington’s Pop-up Restaurant event was created to allow food lovers in North Yorkshire the opportunity to come along and experience fine dining at its very best. “The Orangery is not normally open to the public so we felt this would be a chance for us to share this beautiful venue with a different audience.
“This is our second pop-up event and we are delighted with the response we have had and look forward to another successful evening.”
Chef Tom Coe said “The food is all my own creation in my style which is classic British, but I take influence from all over to create the perfect dish.”
Mr Coe said he uses local and seasonal produce as much as possible, and enjoys working in his native Yorkshire after training under top chefs in London.
He added: “The food scene in the north is very exciting at the moment – you certainly don’t have to go to London to experience top quality food, and I hope the pop-up restaurant at the Orangery will show that.”
