RESIDENTS of a Yorkshire Dales village were left without power for more than 15 hours following a cable fault.
Nineteen properties in West Witton, near Leyburn, were affected.
The fault occurred shortly before midday on Tuesday and was not fixed until the early hours of Wednesday.
One resident said: "It did seem like an excessive amount of time to resolve the problem.
"They said it would be fixed by 3.30pm and I'm not sure they had even started by then."
It is understood the village shop, Withywood Stores, was one of the properties affected.
Northern Powergrid, which mains the electricity network, said the fault was reported at around 11.50am on Tuesday.
Engineers discovered an underground cable under the main road had developed a fault.
A spokeswoman said: "The fault was repaired at 3.23am the next day.
"We would like to apologise for the inconvenience and thank customers for their patience."
