ORGANISERS of Bedale's Music Festival say it has become recognised as one of the friendliest in the country.
The event brought more than 500 visitors to the town over May's festival weekend. Organiser Pam Knighton told Bedale Town Council that this year’s festival, the second organised by BAMfest was a great success.
She said among the highlights was the Blues Band and Harvey Blogg Songwriting competition, organised in memory of a well known local musician, attracting more than 30 entries.
Mrs Knighton thanked the town council for their support and said organisation of next year’s event is well underway. She said it had been decided to keep the festival small and friendly after the festival, which cost £33,000, left the group no better off than the first year’s event, which cost around £12,000.
Mrs Knighton said the festival, which involved performances in various venues for both children and adults plus a three day craft fair, would be a similar sized event next summer.
