A BOOK filled with places of interest, landscape features and popular community venues from a child’s perspective has been published by a museum.

The Heritage Book, sponsored by Richmond Rotary Club and compiled by Richmondshire Museum using words and images provided by local children, was launched last week.

Pupils from 19 primary and secondary schools that participated in the Heritage Book Project were encouraged to consider, write about and photograph the places of heritage that they found to be of most interest and value to them in the local area.

All the material has been used by Richmondshire Museum’s to create a memorable photograph book which is sponsored by Richmond Rotary Club.

Education manager Jos Huddleston, who came up with the idea for the project, said: “It has been a very rewarding process to work with schools and children on this project that has been supported by both Richmondshire Museum and Richmond Rotary Club.

“For some schools the choice was made by classes or groups, and for others the whole school was involved.”

Richmond Rotary Club president Mac Bryant said: “The hard work and effort that the children have put into this exciting initiative is evident from the high quality of the book that they have produced.”
