PLANS for a 15 kilometre underground pipeline running through part of the North York Moors and gas production at an existing well have been approved by North Yorkshire County council.
The gas site at Ebberston Moor, near Malton, is an existing well which produced gas between 1971 and 1974 but it’s been discovered it still contains large quantities of gas.
The pipeline which will go over the River Derwent and under the York-Scarborough railway will connect the well to Knapton Generating station. The scheme has also been agreed by the North York Moors National Park.
