The speaker at Bedale Archaeology and History Society's meeting on March 4 will be archaeologist and author Gillian Hovell, who will give an illustrated talk on everyday life in Rome as depicted by the Romans. The meeting takes place in Bedale Hall at 7.30 pm. Non-member are welcome for £2 on the door; members, schoolchildren and full-time students free.
Primate lectures: The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, will be at Ripon Cathedral on February 2 at 7pm to give the first St Wilfrid Lecture of 2014 on the theme of “Beyond War and Conflict: Building Communities of Peace and Reconciliation.” Admission to the lecture is free and open to the public.
