A DAY centre for older people has come alive with the sound of music.
Thanks to a grant of £3,750 from Hambleton District Council’s community grants programme the Dales Care Centre in Bedale has been able to add to its activities schedule with live music every week for the last five months.
“We wanted to offer a program of events and activities that would inspire and entertain our guests providing an alternative to their daily routine and a chance to enjoy the company of others through social inclusion,” said spokesman Michelle Sands.
“This grant has given us the opportunity to listen to what our guests would find enjoyable and based on this feedback we have been able to offer weekly live entertainment, either through a singer, musician or a comedian along with twice weekly exercise classes.
“It means they can stay and enjoy the activities rather than being home alone especially in the winter months.”
She added: “Our mission is to relieve loneliness and isolation for older people along with giving carers much needed respite.”
