TWO male fundraisers braved leg waxing in a bid to raise cash for the UK’s leading heart charity.

Matty Burn, 17, and Chris Gray, 22, endured the painful challenge in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

They did it all under the public gaze in the window of the charity’s shop on Northallerton High Street.

Mr Gray, who works for the army's Defence Support Group in Catterick, said: “It really wasn’t too bad, but it felt like my legs were made of Velcro.”

Mr Burn, whose sister Nikki, 21, raised over £600 last year by shaving her head for heart and cancer research, added: “It is all good fun and it is definitely for a good cause.”

Branch manager, Cheryl Muir, 44, rallied her team of volunteers for the occasion and invited her 20-year-old daughter Sophie – a trained beautician - to do the waxing honours.

“Sophie brought wax, a bed and all of her own business equipment for the event,” Cheryl explained.

“It was all quite professional and she’s the quickest waxer in the west.”

The team is still collecting donations for the sponsored event and hopes to raise more than £250 for the cause.
