A 58-year-old taxi driver was robbed of his takings after he arrived to pick up a fare on Gildercliffe, Scarborough, at 7.20pm on Tuesday (February 18). When he arrived, two men wearing balaclavas got into the back of his blue Citroen Berlingo cab and threatened him with a knife before stealing his takings and running off. The driver was uninjured but shaken by the incident. Police are appealing for witnesses. Contact 101, select option two and ask for Scarborough CID.
Mayor mourned: Tributes have been paid at the funeral of Malton’s four-times former town mayor Jason Fitzgerald-Smith, held in St Mary’s Priory, in Old Malton.
