A CADET force is urgently seeking more adult volunteers as it struggles to keep up with demand.
Stokesley Army Cadet Force is looking for more men and women aged over 18 to volunteer at the local detachment as new cadets continue to sign up.
Stokesley is one of 46 detachments across North and West Yorkshire. There are 1,500 cadets in the region.
A military background is not necessary for volunteers, who are needed to help for a few hours a week and can also assist in a range of military-orientated pursuits from training weekends to white-water rafting and rock climbing.
Cadet Euan French, from Stokesley, said: “I love every minute of being a cadet. The ACF is a great place to make new friends, develop skills and enjoy experiences that many other people my age rarely get the chance to do. But the whole unit can only exist if we continue to have enough adult volunteers.”
Colonel Malcolm Render MBE, Commandant for Yorkshire North and West Army Cadet Force, added: “The ACF is one of the most prestigious youth organisations in the country.
"Its popularity means we need more adult instructors to lead the cadets and deliver the quality of experiences, adventures and community projects - including the Duke of Edinburgh award - which our cadets enjoy. We’d love to hear from people who are willing to offer their time and enthusiasm to join our ranks as an adult instructor.”
Anyone interested in finding out more about becoming an adult volunteer should visit www.armycadets.com or enquire at your local detachment.
