VOTERS have been to the polls to choose a new member for Richmondshire District Council.
Independent Richard Beal was elected with 273 votes, beating Conservative candidate David Morton, who polled 83 votes.
Thursday’s by-election for the Reeth and Arkengarthdale ward saw a turnout of 34.1 per cent and followed the death of Coun Bob Gale in December.
