AN EXHIBITION of sculptures, paintings and other work by up-and-coming artists is due to be displayed at a North Yorkshire stately home.
Students at York College’s art and design courses have been challenged to create pieces of art based on the theme of Discovery.
The results will be on display at Nunnington Hall, near Helmsley, between Saturday, February 15 and Sunday, March 9.
The exhibition at the National Trust house showcases mixed media works, including sculpture, ceramics, paintings, mixed media, illustration, glass and enamel. More than 30 students put forward work for the display. The final pieces chosen include a ceramic crocodile, a paper city and 3D scenes from Alice in Wonderland.
The York College ‘Discovery’ exhibition will kick start Nunnington’s programme of exhibitions for this year. In 2014 visitors will be treated to displays from the renowned British Wildlife Photography Awards, Daily Telegraph cartoonist ‘Matt’ as well as a poignant exhibition commemorating World War One.
The exhibition is open Tuesdays to Sundays, 11am – 5pm. For more information visit the website; www.nationaltrust.org.uk/nunningtonhall
