LEYBURN Band made a successful appearance at the annual Ripon Contest earlier this month.
The band finished fourth overall and won the prize for the best unregistered band not in the top three.
Bands from as far away as Cumbria and North Lincolnshire took part in the contest in Ripon Cathedral.
Gordon Walker, tuba player and committee member, described the fourth place as a “great achievement”.
He added: “We beat three section three bands and seven section four bands, as well as an unregistered band – we got 230 points and the winner got 237.”
Mr Walker said the band was going from strength to strength.
“We’ve been very busy recently. We are working on a third CD and hope to have it available for our tenth anniversary concert at Tennants in September.”
