THE sound of Africa is coming to the county town of North Yorkshire next week.
During a rare tour to England the group Etran Finatawa will perform at the Joe Cornish Galleries in Northallerton on Tuesday, June 11.
Gallery director Joni Essex, who has travelled extensively in Mali, said: “The group hail from North Africa, but blend the traditional music of the Wodaabe and Tuareg peoples with western instruments.
“This is a rare opportunity to hear music of this kind and quality in Northallerton.”
The band will play two 45 minute acoustic sets, the interval will comprise a meal, a chance to meet the band, buy their hand-crafted jewellery and their new CD.
Tickets are £20 per person and can be purchased from the gallery or online at joecornishgallery.co.uk
