A project to transform King’s Square in York, near The Shambles, has been delayed so as not to damage business during the height of tourist season. The £490,000 scheme will involve re-paving and redesigning the square. It is part of a larger project to regenerate the city centre. Work was due to begin this week, but concerns were raised by shop and business owners in the city that it would hit trade during the busy summer months. Work will now begin in September and last 12 weeks.
