A VILLAGE covered itself in fun over the holiday weekend as a local tradition marked a major milestone.
The annual Brompton Carnival, near Northallerton, celebrated its 100th year in style with a packed programme of colourful events.
As well as sports and a funfair, activities included a circus skills demonstration, balloon sculptures, a magic show, Punch and Judy, an exotic pets show, plus a soft play bus, face painting and temporary glitter tattoos.
There was also a chance to learn something courtesy of workshops with a BMX skate-boarder, football skills expert and a break-dancer.
And the spectacular carnival parade featured a colourful fancy dress competition, led by local dance group Curve Dance dressed as cheerleaders.
