AN OFFER has been accepted on a former police station which failed to sell at auction earlier this year.
North Yorkshire Police have accepted an offer of £1.5m for the former Harrogate Police Station on North Park Road.
The force had placed a reserve of £1.9m on the 1930s property, but it failed to reach the price at auction in March. Now the force has accepted the offer from an unnamed party, who will pay a further £350,000 should planning permission be granted.
The money will be reinvested into North Yorkshire Police’s estates programme.
At one point, plans were mooted to demolish the building and create a new purpose-built headquarters for Harrogate Borough Council on the 1.4 acre site. But the plans were abandoned when the building became Grade II listed in September.
