SCHOOL children are being asked to do some blue-sky thinking - to find a name for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance’s new mascot.
Primary school pupils across the county are being asked to enter a special competition to name the new helicopter mascot following the retirement of Bernie Bear who was the face of the independent charity for ten years.
Spokesman Abby McClymont said: “We love our new mascot but it doesn’t have a name. So, we’re asking all our young supporters to come up with some suggestions.
“It can be a boy or girl’s name, but needs to be something original and memorable. And, whatever name is chosen, our mascot will be kept very busy over the coming months at shows, fetes and events throughout the region.”
The competition closing date is June 14 and all entries should be sent to the YAA at Cayley House, 10 South Lane, Elland HX5 0HQ.
The competition winner – who will be announced on June 21 – will get a trip for them and their family to the YAA’s base at Leeds/Bradford Airport plus a hoodie and goody bag.
