A CARE home has held a hair-raising event to raise money for a children’s cancer charity.
Organiser and activity co-ordinator for Abbey Care in Scorton, near Richmond, Michele Hodgkinson was inspired to set up the event after the recent cancer-related death of her sister-in-law and staged a Wig Wednesday.
She said: “I asked local businesses if they could donate any prizes and cakes for the event and I couldn’t believe how generous they were."
Ms Hodgkinson said everyone at the centre had had a wonderful day, and staff and residents alike had enjoyed the party atmosphere.
She added: “I’m not sure how much money we raised yet but our collection pots feel very heavy – we have counted £73 so far.”
