MORE than 75 people danced the day away to raise awareness of dance and the classes available in the Hambleton area.
Dancers, teachers and would-be dancers took part in the Celebration of Dance at the Hambleton Forum in Northallerton.
Funded by Arts Council England and Yorkshire Dance, the day was started with a warm up by African dancer Villmore James from Leeds and was followed by workshops in a wide variety of different dance styles.
Contemporary dance groups Curve Dance and Envisage, street dancers from Harrogate Youth Dance Group and Lindy Hop dancers, All That Jazz, also put on performances.
“It was fabulous to see so many ages and abilities represented and all dancing together and having a good time,” said the district council’s arts development officer, Kate Staines.
“The day was described as fantastic and amazing by some of the dancers.”
