A NEW surface has been rolled out on Richmond School’s all weather pitch.
The £170,000 project to resurface the Astroturf pitch was made possible by a partnership between Richmondshire District Council, the school and England Hockey.
The district council provided £72,046 of the funding. Part of the agreement sees the pitch have dual use – for the school and the local community.
Councillor Ian Threlfall, spokesman for leisure and wellbeing, said: “The new surface further improves the sports provision for not only the school but the wider community including numerous sports clubs and visiting teams to Richmondshire attracting more people to play more sports."
Ian Robertson, head of Richmond School, added: “The partnership has been able to provide a top class facility that should now last many years.
“The all weather pitch is available for community hire every weekday evening from 5.30pm to 10pm plus weekends from 9am to 6pm.”
Bookings can be made through Richmond Community Sport. Contact Tony Potter or Matthew Brown on 01748-850111 - option four- or 07813-536675.
