FUNDRAISERS for a village pre-school have said they were amazed by the level of community support and generosity after an appeal for raffle prizes.
Kim Chadwick from the Catterick Village Pre-School committee said they were already thrilled when local carpet fitter Dave Huspeth donated half the amount for new carpets and flooring for the centre.
She said: “To raise the rest of the money we decided to hold a raffle so I asked local businesses through a local buy and sell website if they wanted to contribute.”
The result amazed Mrs Chadwick and the rest of the committee, who received countless offers including a free MOT from a local garage, free boiler service and free meals in the village pub.
She said: “I am shocked at the amount of small businesses that have donated some fantastic and expensive prizes to our raffle, which I am holding on June 7.
“The pre-school needs a bit of a tidy up with fresh paint and carpets, but this was more than we could have hoped for.
“We have been really lucky and I am sure we will easily raise more than enough for the carpets. I just wanted to thank to local community for its support. The school is charity run so whenever we need anything we have to fundraise for it.”
The raffle will be drawn on June 7 at the pre-school.
