RESIDENTS and businesses are invited to have their say on plans for a multi-million pound business park expansion.

Plans for the £4m development at Whitby were recently unveiled by Scarborough Borough Council and the North York Moors National Park Authority.

Now they want to hear views on what type of businesses should be there, how it should look and any other suggested uses for the area.

A grant of £2.6m was recently allocated to develop the project from the Coastal Communities Fund.

The money was partly awarded to attract companies likely to be involved in two major proposed developments which are currently in the pipeline.

One is the £40m Dogger Bank project which will involve erecting 2,600 turbines in what is expected to become the UK’s largest engineering project.

The other potential development is the York Potash Project to mine potash from Sneaton near Whitby.

A draft plan for the business park has been drawn up showing where the park could be extended to accommodate more businesses.

The proposal also includes a hotel and pub, landscaping and improved road layout.

Residents and businesses can look at the document online and download it from; http://scarborough.objective.co.uk/portal.

It can also be seen at the North York Moors National Park Authority offices in Helmsley, Scarborough Town Hall, Whitby Town Council office; Whitby Library and Whitby Tourist Information Office.

The plans will also go on display at a mobile unit at Whitby Seafoods Car Park, on Fairfield Way at the Whitby Business Park, from 12.30pm until 6.30 pm on Thursday, May 23, when officers will be on hand to discuss the proposals.
