A QUARTER of a century of service to the country has been marked with a special presentation at RAF Leeming.
Civil servant Elisabeth Tallentire received the Imperial Service Medal in recognition of her 25 years of service at the airbase, reflecting her “meritorious service” as a public servant.
Mrs Tallentire – known as Liz - lives in the village of Fencote, not far from the base, and first joined the civil service as a typist in 1972, undertaking studies at night school to gain qualifications for her role.
Nine years later she left to raise a family, but later returned to the base, again undertaking evening study for further qualifications.
She received her medal from the station commander, Group Captain Steve Reeves, who said: “I know she will be missed at RAF Leeming where she has made such a difference in a variety of appointments over the years. For that contribution I am very grateful and l wish her an enjoyable and well-deserved retirement.”
