Jobs cash: City of York Council has allocated £200,000 to employment and skills programmes over the next three years. The funding, from the council's £28.5m Economic Infrastructure Fund, will be put towards activities aimed at plugging gaps in the employment and skills offered locally.
Camera cost: Fitting CCTV cameras on a fleet of new bin lorries is to cost City of York Council more than £60,000 The authority says the cameras should help it reduce insurance claims and settlements arising from alleged incidents involving the lorries, which currently cost it more than £30,000 a year.
