Fair day: Duncombe Park Country Fair, held in the grounds of the stately home near Helmsley, will take place on May 27. It will include a wide variety of displays and activities, from stunt riding and clowns to horse-showing and vintage cars.
Cash boost: A charity evening at the Jinnah Restaurant, Flaxton, hosted by the chairman of Ryedale District Council, Eric Hope, raised more than £1,600 for Macmillan Cancer Support and Ryedale Stroke Group.
Foster care: North Yorkshire County Council’s children’s services division is seeking to recruit 50 more foster carers and is taking part in the national campaign Foster Care Fortnight from May 13 to 26 to try and attract more families willing to take on children who come into the care system.
