A HEADTEACHER has organised a triathlon for her primary school pupils to help raise funds for a community tennis court.
Ruth Smith, who joined East Cowton Church of England Primary School in September, is injecting her passion for sport into the school and encouraging a wide range of sporting activities.
Dr Smith’s own family compete regularly in triathlons to a high standard and with the success of the 2012 Olympic athletes, she is keen to continue the legacy the games left.
The school will be holding a sponsored mini triathlon on Friday, May 24 where pupils will participate in a swim, run and cycle.
Children will take their swimming lesson as a whole school and there will be a run and cycle around the school playing fields – children not able to cycle can take part on a trike.
Adults are welcome to participate in the run and biking elements on the school field, sponsorship forms are available from the school office or on 01325-378347.
