A LEADING Hambleton venue has announced a new patron as it enters a new era in its history.
The Forum in Northallerton is now a registered charity after control was taken over from the council by a company of local people last year.
And world-renowned mountaineer Alan Hinkes – who lives locally – has now agreed to be patron of venture.
He is hoping to attend the gala opening of the Forum in its new guise, which will take ploace on April 13.
This will include an open day from 11am to 5pm to showcase all the activities which take place at the venue.
There will be refreshments available and chance to try some activities as well as learning what the various groups who regularly use the venue do.
It is also hoped to have some trailers for upcoming films available at the Forum’s volunteer-led cinema.
There should also be news of a satellite connection to allow the venue to show live performances from the National Theatre.
