FLYING HIGH: The Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington, near York, has been named as a finalist in this year’s Visit England Awards For Excellence. The museum has made the shortlist in the category of Tourism Experience of the Year.
ROYAL ROLE: The Prince of Wales is to be patron of events in York to mark the 75th anniversary of Mallard breaking the world steam speed record. The National Railway Museum has announced Prince Charles’ support for a reunion of Mallard and her five surviving sister A4 Pacific Class locomotives in July.
COUNCIL HQ: York’s new £32m council HQ has officially opened its doors to the public. The building, in Station Rise, has seen a former railway station building transformed to house City of York Council’s customer centre and 1,400 staff.
