MOTORCYCLISTS will have the chance to brush up on their skills at an open day next month.

The Northallerton Advanced Bikes group is holding an open day in Leeming Bar near Northallerton on Sunday, April 14.

The group will be offering people the chance to embark on a 45 minute route with an observer who will help them improve their riding skills.

The event will take place at The Lodge in Leeming Bar on the A684 Northallerton to Bedale road.

The bike group is affiliated to the Institute of Advanced Motorists and was set up to meet requests for advanced motorcycle training in the Northallerton, Richmond and Dales area of North Yorkshire.

It meets on the last Tuesday of each month from 7.30pm at the motel in Leeming. It also stages a monthly road trip between April and October.

“With the biking season traditionally starting in April, it will be an interesting day and a chance to brush up skills which may have got rusty over the winter,” said Henry Brown, from the group.

“Bikers often think their skills are at the same level as they were when they last road in the autumn - unfortunately they may not be and this can lead to an accident.”
