A WOODLAND daffodil walk is to take place in the grounds of a privately-owned historic home this weekend.
Hornby Castle, near Bedale in North Yorkshire, is due to open its doors to the public on Easter Saturday, March 30, when the spring flowers should be at their height.
The property is home to Roger and Julia Clutterbuck and is surrounded by 18th century parkland which was designed by a pupil of Capability Brown.
The walk will begin at the front of the castle, past views of the deer park and down through woodland to the Norman church of St Mary’s, where refreshments and homemade cakes will be available.
Venison from animals reared on the estate will also be available for purchase from the castle.
The event will raise money for New Lights, a charity that provides exhibitions and awards for emerging young artists in the North of England, as well as arranges workshops and talks for the public.
The walk will take place between 10am and 4pm.
Admission is £5 adults and £1 children on the door or £3.50 in advance from: mydonate.bt.com/events/daffodilsathornbycastle/94608
