PIE AND PEA: A primary school was presented with a cheque for more than £2,000 during a pie and pea evening.
Baldersby St James Primary School, near Thirsk, received the cash from Friends of the school to provide a mini bus for school trips and new equipment.
Headteacher Mark Lawn said the pie and pea evening followed a parents’ information evening to show families how literacy is taught in the school.
He said: “The evening was a huge success and was attended by more than half the school’s families.
“Evenings like this enable us to work together more effectively to support learning.”
