Spooky abbey: The National Trust is staging some spooky Halloween-inspired activities for visitors this half-term at Fountains Abbey near Ripon. Visit nationaltrust.org.uk/fountainsabbey for more information.
Fearful fun: The Great Ayton Discovery Centre – formerly the local library – is holding a Halloween party on October 31 with games an stories for two to seven-year-olds accompanied by an adult. Admission is free but some events will carry a small charge.
