TWO crews from an amateur rowing club have completed a 31-mile “marathon”.

The juniors from Durham Amateur Rowing Club (DARC) overcame the Boston Marathon, a 31-mile time trial from Lincoln to Boston, in Lincolnshire, last month.

The crew of eight’s time was three hours, 43 minutes, meaning it finished fifth.

The quad’s time was four hours and 16 minutes, meaning it finished 16th. Around 145 boats took part.

The DARC effort raised £2,000 for the club, which will be used to repair its junior boats.
