SIXTH-formers at Chester-le-Street’s Hermitage Academy have raised £5,500 for Sunderland's Grace House North East’s Children's Hospice Appeal.
The students raised the money over a year through activities that included an 84-mile walk along Hadrian’s Wall and the 26-mile Allendale Challenge.
Leading student Charlotte Keyworth said: “We are delighted with the funds raised and we are looking forward to taking part in a similar project next year.”
The students plan to do the 97-mile St Oswald’s Walk in six days next July.
Head of Sixth Form and Assistant Headteacher Janice Riley said: “This is a tremendous effort from all of the sixth form to raise such an impressive amount of money.
“The sixth form at the Hermitage always rises to a challenge and they have already started preparing for next year’s activities.”
