A CHARITY fun run organiser is asking participants to return their sponsorship money as soon as possible.
Claire Wase, who organised Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life in Durham City, is encouraging the 2,600 women who entered the 5km event, held on St Leonard’s sports fields on Sunday, July 15, to collect and hand over the pledges.
Last year, a third of the race’s participants returned no sponsorship money.
Ms Wase said: “Race for Life in Durham was a fantastic event. We want to say a heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part.
“Now the big day is over, we’re asking our supporters to take one last step – by returning the money they’ve raised so that we can go on funding much-needed research.”
It is hoped the event will raise £140,000 for the cause. For more information, visit raceforlife.org
