MORE than 1,200 people have taken part in a Scout county’s biggest ever event.
Durham Scout County staged its annual Confido adventure camp at Moor House, near West Rainton, County Durham, at the weekend.
There were more than 50 activities, including Europe’s largest mobile zip line, tomahawk throwing, Segway safari, night-time climbing on a glow-in-the-dark climbing wall, archery, backwoods cooking and pioneering.
One youngster made his Scout promise while on the zip line.
On Saturday night, there was a zombie-themed party, with help from professional make-up artists.
Jessica Harbottle, 14, said: “Confido is one of my favourite Scout events because it’s a great chance to make new friends. I had such a great time on the activities.
There was loads to do.
“The huge zip wire was my favourite – it was amazing.
“Moor House adventure centre looked incredible with more than 1,000 zombies on site. I was so scared in the dark.”
The event depended on more than 200 adult volunteers.
